PERTH-SYDNEY ESCAPADE

A tour of Perth and south-west Australia (Margaret River region) is a wonderful thing!
Add a journey across the country, from Perth to Sydney, on the iconic Indian Pacific, for an even more fabulous experience. Vast expanses, tall karri trees, tranquil lakes, stunning caves, impressive coastlines, rolling dunes, quaint towns, fabulous food and wine … and lots more …

Two days in Sydney, five days on private vintage train Aurora Australis into the heart of NSW, two days in the Blue Mountains – a special trip with so much variety. We travelled on freight-only lines, saw splendid scenery, had perfect weather and enjoyed life on-board this fabulous train. A fun and memorable experience with so many layers.

ODE TO NORFOLK ISLAND
Poem and Photos by Sally Blyth, March 2023
Norfolk Island – where history, nature, culture and hospitality come together on one tiny island in the Pacific Ocean. Isolated, yet so in touch with the world, it’s a place that showcases its unique and quirky array of offerings in an inimitable and charming (and haunting!) way.
I first visited in 2000 and again in 2007. In March 2023 I led a group trip here for Pukekohe Travel – and loved it even more than ever.

SMALL WONDER IN THE PACIFIC, Norfolk Island
Sally Blyth, Destinations Magazine, December 2016
My morning stroll takes me past old ruins, pine trees and tranquil turquoise waters. In town I browse Irish linen, Venetian glass and English china. No traffic lights, no public transport, no congestion here. Evening falls, I enjoy fresh seafood, bantering with the locals as if I’d known them forever.
So where in the world am I, to be able to enjoy all this in just one day?
