ART COURSE IN FRANCE

During September 2006 I undertook an intensive 9-day abstract art course in France, combining creative exploration with technical learning.  It was an exceptional opportunity and great thrill - there are only two courses per year with this French tutor, Elisabeth Poiret, and I was the first New Zealander to do the course, held in a small medieval village in the south of France, an hour north-west of Toulouse.  I have returned home with lots of learning, some amazing memories, and some lovely new connections.

Prior to the course I spent time in Paris - I have visited Paris a number of times, and it was as charming and captivating as ever.  After the course I visited New York for the first time (arriving on the 5th anniversary of 9/11). I knew I would love the city, but I loved it more than I ever imagined I might.  My time there was too short, so my aim is to return as soon as I am able.

Thanks to my family for allowing me this very special and timely opportunity. (A full write-up of this experience, with photos, will be posted soon !)
